"When Ronan Leonard from JCI Fingal announced that he had some places left for a visit to the Dail, I immediately thought yes! what a great opportunity!
I had seen the beautiful building from the outside and I wanted to visit the place where a lot of the political decisions in Ireland were taken.
It got better and better, not only were we invited to visit the Dail itself, but were also included: a dinner and a visit to the bar. I have visited the Belgian Parliament and Senate (I’m Belgian), but I do not recall having seen a restaurant or bar, whereas I’m sure they do eat and drink;-)
Irish hospitality showed itself once again and after a splendid dinner we went – as I arrived at 6.30pm, I missed the grand tour of the building – to the Dail where we witnessed a voting session as well as a discussion. Fortunately for us, Irish politicians work late …
The visitors tribunes were situated in a way that everything could be observed easily and it was interesting to see how people voted, went in and out of the assembly, debated, etc. and how the Chairperson made sure that everything went on smoothly.
The Dail bar was an excellent place to chat away and finish the evening in a beautiful place and in great company!
Thank you Ronan / JCI Fingal for organising and letting us join in for this interesting and pleasant event!"
