| Junior Chamber Dublin urges active citizenship by supporting the Irish Blood Transfusion Service |
|
JCI Dublin and Irish Blood Transfusion Service joined forces to promote giving blood as an act of generosity and willingness to say thank you by supporting other members of society. Active Citizenship Week took place between 11th and 18th September 2011. The flagship JCI Dublin activity for this year was a campaign run together with IBTS aimed at inviting citizens to give blood on Thursday,15th September at D’Olier branch of IBTS. This was a new initiative, partnering with JCI Ireland and using social media to promote the mission of IBTS and encourage people to volunteer and give blood on a particular date, 15th September. IBTS Chief Executive Andy Kelly said that the spirit of active citizenship was central to giving blood and urged people to support this and other initiatives taking place for Active Citizenship Week. ‘This event expresses the importance of cooperation within the community- the one that lives online and the one that walks the pavements of off-line reality’, said JCI Dublin Community Officer Agnieszka Legowik. To support our initiative, please join us on the social media of your preference and post: "1 in 4 people will need blood at some stage in their lives.
